Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of the GatherMate app and website (the "Service"), operated by [LEGAL ENTITY NAME] ("we", "us"). By using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old and able to form a binding contract to use the Service.

2. Your account

You're responsible for your account and for keeping your credentials secure. You must provide accurate information and are responsible for activity under your account.

3. ⚠️ Foraging safety — important

GatherMate is an informational, community-driven guide. It is NOT a foraging, botanical, medical, or safety authority.

Information in the app — including spot locations, plant identifications, edibility, and identification tips — is user-generated and/or general guidance, and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or wrong.
Never pick or eat any wild plant, fungus, or berry unless you are completely certain it is safe. Many edible species have toxic lookalikes that can cause serious illness or death.
You are solely responsible for what you choose to forage and consume. Always confirm identification with a qualified expert and obey local laws and land access rules.
You use the Service and forage entirely at your own risk. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we accept no liability for any harm, illness, injury, loss, or damage arising from your use of the Service or anything you pick or eat.

4. User content

You retain ownership of content you submit (spots, descriptions, photos, reports). By submitting it, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display, and distribute that content within the Service. You confirm you have the rights to the content and that it doesn't infringe others' rights. Submitted spots may become publicly visible to other users.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

Submit false, misleading, dangerous, or unlawful content.
Submit spots on private property without permission, or that encourage illegal or unsafe activity.
Harass, abuse, or harm others, or post offensive or spam content.
Attempt to bypass rate limits, security, or moderation systems.
Scrape, reverse-engineer, or misuse the Service.

We may remove content, and suspend or terminate accounts, that violate these Terms. Spots reported by the community may be auto-hidden pending review.

6. Premium subscription

Premium is an auto-renewing subscription billed through your Google Play account at the price and interval shown at purchase (e.g. monthly).
It renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel anytime in Google Play.
Refunds are handled under Google Play's policies and applicable consumer law.
Premium benefits (e.g. ad-free use, private spots, unlimited submissions) may change over time; we'll give reasonable notice of material changes.

7. Advertising

The Service is supported by ads for non-premium users. See the Privacy Policy for how advertising data and consent are handled.

8. Intellectual property

The Service, excluding user content, is owned by us and protected by law. We grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable licence to use it under these Terms.

9. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, to the maximum extent permitted by law, including any warranty of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from foraging, identification errors, or reliance on the Service. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law (including your statutory consumer rights).

11. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify us against claims arising from your content or your breach of these Terms, to the extent permitted by law.

12. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for violations of these Terms or to protect the Service or its users.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Norway, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence. Disputes are subject to the courts of [JURISDICTION/CITY], Norway, unless mandatory law provides otherwise.

14. Changes

We may update these Terms and will post the revised version with a new date. Continued use after changes means you accept them.
